She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnnie B. Simms and Christine Bentley Simms; and her siblings, Bobby Johnson, Loyal Barr, Jimmy Bailey, Kensey Sims and Terry Sims.

She is survived by: her children, Keilah Williams (John Suggs), Kerry Simms, Brandon Simms (Vonetta), Leon Simms (Jalisa), Maurio Simms, Jamie Bentley (Angela) and Terry Simms; her siblings, Areatha Barr and Johneva Sims; and her goddaughter Brionnah King. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
