He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Rufus Augustus and Zelma Wilson Whitaker; his son Michael Christopher Whitaker (Chris); his grandson Payton; his daughter Kelly Michele Whitaker (Kelly); his granddaughters, Jaden and Erica; his sisters, Dorothea McAlvin, Sandra Pair, Brenda LoPotro and Suzanne Whitaker (Faulkenmayer); his cousins, Alan, Randy Wilson, Bubba, Leon, Jr., Doug Wilson and Sammy McCullough; and also Wiley. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
