She was predeceased by: her husband Ralph Hayes; her sister Catherine Smith; her stepson Roger Hayes; and her sister-in-law Jean Jernigan. She is survived by: her sons, Stanley D. Hester (Marie), LaGrange, Ronnie Hayes (Sally) and Canton; her siblings, Leona Lake of Opelika and John Winston Strong; and also West Point.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
