He is survived by: his wife Kathy Smith Matthews; his sons, Johnny William Matthews, Jr. (Shelia) and Richard Trice Matthews; and his grandchildren, Connor, Chloe Matthews, Indian and Georgia Bulldogs Football. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
