He is survived by: his wife Martha Bullard Staples; his children, Kristy Pickard (Alex) of Hampton and Shane Staples (Shelby) of Stockbridge; his grandchildren, Nicholas Hayes (Kacie) of Tifton, William Pickard of Albertville, AL, Courtney Ward (Robert) of Ft. Polk, LA and Ryan Pickard of Auburn; his great grandchildren, Caidyn, Savana, Karter and Landry; his siblings, Homer Staples (Leona) of Stockbridge, Wayne Staples (Betty Jean) of Stockbridge, Timothy Staples of Covington, Connie Stearns of Conyers, Peggy Woodall of Stockbridge and Debra Stanley (Ronnie) of Covington; and his brother-in-law Thomas Bullard (Vinita) of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
