He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Dennis Charlton and Annie Vurra Cockrell Charlton; his son Robert Alan Charlton; and his sisters, Doris Hancock Herring and Anne Lynch Moyer.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Virginia Shipp Charlton of Monticello; his son Roy Earl Charlton, Sr.; his daughter-in-law Melissa Garner Charlton; and his grandchildren, Erik Jason Charlton, Roy Earl Charlton, Jr. and Ava Melinda Charlton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
