He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Smith Downing and Georgia Louise Sullivan Downing; his daughter Sherrie Elizabeth Downing; and his grandson Matt Schieman. He is survived by: his wife Jackie Downing; his children, Jimmy (Beverly Golden), Sharon (Danny Dye), Susan (Jackie Walker), Stacy (Tony Brimingham) and Paige Downing of Loganville; his grandchildren, Jason, Daria Walker, Renee Schieman, Kyle, Samantha Golden, Daniel Dye, Kayla, Luke Moss, Victoria, Andrew Williams, Ryan Henson and Alexander Cash; and his sister Sharon Downing of Lewisburg, TN.. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
