He is survived by: his wife Debbie Shetter Bates; his children, Crystal Bates, Lonnie Bates Jr., Timmy Bates, Jeremy Shetter and Tasha Broussard; his mother Marjorie Bates; his siblings, Robin Bates and Lee Bates; and his nieces, Caroline Spikes and Stacey Bates. He is also survived by three great nephews and one great niece.
