He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Harriet Hicks; his sons, James Calvin Hays Jr. (Sharon Hinson) and Chris (Debi); his siblings, Charlie Hays and Barbara Hays Hall; his grandchildren, James Calvin Hays III (Betsy), Blaine Charles Hays (Barbara Ann), Hinson Christopher Hays (Ilona), Sharon Hope Hays, Cali Ruth Hays, John Hays, Nicholas Hays (Victoria), Rachel Reese (Kevin) and Spencer Frank Hays; his father Charles Gewinner Hays; and his son Cal.
