He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Smith and Nena Edwards Smith; his wife Carolyn Stovall Smith; and his son Perry Stuart Smith. He is survived by: his children, Jeff Smith (Dorena) and Cindy Bresee (Stuart) of Knoxville, TN; his sister Floradean Pendergrass of Collinsville, AL; his grandchildren, Sara (Yann Baquet), Alex, Kaitlin Bresee, Brittnee, Tarra, Brandon and Nicolle Smith; and his great grandchild Kayden Smith. He is also survived by the youngest of nine with five brothers and three sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
