He is survived by: his daughter Stacy Sinsley (James Simmons); his adoptive daughter Teresa Dooley (Buddy); and his grandchildren, Devin Simmons (Elizabeth Christian) and Brandi Johnson (Cory). He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or a veteran's charity of choice.
