He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Thomas and Katie Bell Nelson Howard; his wife Wanda Hartzog-Howard; his son Donald Colby Howard; and his brothers, Hugh Horace Howard, Cecil Evans Howard and Wade Franklin Howard.
He is survived by: his son Johnny Earl Howard of Macon; his grandchildren, Crystal Schoepf (James) of Gray and John Howard of Haddock, Georgia; and his great grandchildren, Laila, Jonathan and Daniel.
