He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Nipper and Bertha DeFord; his wife Wilma Ruth Nipper; his children, Raymond Gavel, Polly Nipper, Jeanie Cox and Robin Lund; and his brother Wendell Nipper.
He is survived by: his children, Hilbert Gavel, Alan Gavel, Lynn Gavel, Frankie Gavel (Angela) and John Gavel (Melissa); and his siblings, Dottie Gillespie (Paul) and Billy Nipper. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
