He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon L. Bates and Annie R. Bates. He is survived by: his wife Betty Anne Bates; his children, Tony J. Bates Jr. of Macon, GA and Candaler A High of Milledgeville, GA; and his sister Martha Whitehead of Macon, GA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Due to COVID-19 there will not be a formal visitation. Masks and social distancing are requested at the funeral home.
