He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Zapanta Thompson; his mother Wilma Fancher Thompson; his brothers, Howard Thompson of Bessemer and Haschal Thompson (Renee) of McCalla; his children, Jennifer Thompson Whaley (Derek) of Winder, GA, Kimberly Thompson Carr (Michael) of McDonough, GA and David Thompson of Mansfield, GA; his grandchildren, Colton, Traveler, Chayce Whaley of Winder, GA, Austin, Ryan Hancock and Peyton Carr of McDonough, GA; his stepgranddaughters, Rebekah Johnson (Sam) of McDonough, GA and Rachel Tanahill (Matthew) of Buford, GA; and his cousin Harold Armstrong (Carla) of Trussville, AL..
