She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Bowman, Sr. and Jessie Senior Bowman. She is survived by: her children, Cord Harris (Toi) and Alexis Harris; and her siblings, Willie Bowman, Jr. and Annie Hampton. She is also survived by three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial fund with the American Diabetes Association in Joan B. Harris' honor.
