She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Wheeler Gilbert and Flora Gruner Gilbert; and her siblings, Letitia Deerman (L. R.) and Charles Wheeler Gilbert Jr. (Mary Jo). She is survived by: her daughters, Sandra Waters Phillips (J. Wayne) and Becky Karen Waters (Howard); her granddaughters, Wendy Phillips McDaniel (Kevin) and Chelsea R. Hill (Joe); and her brother Robert "Bob" H. Gilbert (Carolyn). She is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
