He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Levi Strickland and Sarah Gertrude Highsmith Strickland; his son Joseph Malcolm "Mack" Strickland; and his sisters, Infant Lois Strickland and Lucille Strickland Parkes (Charles William "Bill").
He is survived by: his wife Young Chun Strickland of Nahunta; his brother John C. Strickland (Sondra) of Houston, TX; his nephew Michael Parks; his son Vernon Strickland (Julie); his niece Laurie Quinn (Darrell); and his daughters, Carol Lee (Michael) and Diana.
