He was predeceased by: his parents, B. J. Newman and Mary Jane Collins Wilkes; his daughter Everly "Jan" Newman; and his brothers, W. L. Newman and Malbern Newman.
He is survived by: his sister-in-law Vickie Bradley (Lonnie) of Statesboro; his daughters, Melissa Beck (Doug) of Macon and Beverly Fran Moore (Tim) of Lizella; his brother James L. Wilkes of Millen; his grandchildren, Patrick Beck and Elizabeth Beck; and his cousin Kathy Sauls (Billy) of Pembroke. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
