She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruth Barnes Tarpley and McKinley Hobart Tarpley; and her former spouse Thomas Watts McMurray. She is survived by: her daughter Loraine McMurray DiSalvo; her son-in-law Anthony; her granddaughter Tina Marie Purkis (Gordon); her great grandchildren, Matthew James Hemerlein and Amanda Marie Hemerlein; her sisters, Doris Tarpley Lester (Dan) and Joyce Tarpley McIntosh; her siblings' children, Kari Roberts (Jason), Kane Lester (Shonna) and Cameron McIntosh; her great-nieces and great-nephews, McKinley Lester, Lily Roberts, Brooks Lester and Luke Roberts; her significant other William R.; her partner's children, Will and Jarrett Bolton; and also, Adalaide Bolton and Hannah Burtnette. She is also survived by her family and by her many, many friends.
She asked that persons who wished to honor her memory consider doing so by making donations in her name to Native American Veterans Assistance, the NAACP, the United Negro College Fund, or Disabled American Veterans.
