He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Mitchell and Dessie Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Celia "Sue" Mitchell; his son Brent; his daughter-in-law Stacy Mitchell of Tunnel Hill, GA; his daughters, Misty (Jerry Gowin) and Kim Hallman of Dalton, GA; his brothers, Richard "Rickey" (Neda Mitchell) and Thomas (Anita Mitchell); his grandchildren, Keena Dover, Kinley Brown, Kelsey Pitts, Mallory Mitchell, William Gowin and Cody Gowin; and his great grandchildren, Mady Dover, Caroline Dover and Stratton Brown. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
