He was predeceased by : his parents, William "Herbert" Southwell and Elizabeth McArthur Southwell; his sister Ann Mozell Morris Carswell; his brother-in-law William Hamilton Carswell of Tattnall County, Georgia; his brother Herbert McArthur "Mac" Southwell of Tattnall County, Georgia; and his grandparents, Carlton Wilburn Southwell, Nancy Jane "Janie" Burge Southwell of Dooly County, Georgia, Malcolm "Dwight" McArthur and Mabel Tietgen McArthur of Tattnall County.

He is survived by : his nieces, Teresa Carswell Howard (Robert Q. Wilkes, Jr.) of Tattnall County and Rogni Southwell of Seattle, Washington; and his nephew Robert Southwell.
