He was predeceased by: his parents, William Teachey and Dorothy Mae Cooper Teachey; and his wife Gertrude Miller-Teachey. He is survived by: his children, Dorothy D. Herring, Reverend Lucy Redd (Kenneth), Fitzgerald Miller, Morna "Kim" Davis, Tonya Baskerville (Lawrence), Georgia and Herman J. Miller; and his siblings, Joe Teachey, Leon Teachey, Ethel Morris of Wallace, Lula M. Thomas of Wallace, Ernestine Savage (Jimmy) of Wallace and Annie D. Walton of Fayetteville. He is also survived by four sister-in laws and one brother in-law.
