He was predeceased by: his wife Avanell Smith Harkins; his daughter Karen; his siblings, Bill Harkins, Margie Bramlett, Floyia Green, Reva Jordan, Lucille Miller, Goldie Smith and Winnie Stone; and his parents, Sarah Harkins and James Harkins.

He is survived by: his children, Kimberly Harkins Carr of Hixson, TN and Kendall C.; his daughter-in-law Donna Harkins of Rocky Face, GA; his grandchildren, Lauren Startup (Drew), Kayla Harkins and Clint Harkins; and his great grandchildren, Price, Henley, Ellany Kate, Beckett Startup, Mary Addison and Evan Harkins.
