He was predeceased by: his parents, Milburn Smith and Madeline Smith; his sisters, Sharron Wilson and Glenda Painter; and his brothers-in-law, Lynn Souther, R. L. Smith (Bob) and Sheila Souther.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Smith; his children, Dewayne E. Smith Jr and Madeline K. Smith; his stepson Daniel S. Garvey; his daughter-in-law Carrie Garvey; his granddaughter Adysen Garvey; and his siblings-in-law, Annette Souther, Donna Stevens, Larry Stevens, Judy Weaver, Ralph Weaver, Ricky Smith, Carol Smith, Larry Smith, Pat Smith, Leon Wilson and Ronald Painter. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
