He is survived by: his wife Gwen Daniel Payne; his children, Jill Gober, Jennifer Gober, Daniel Gober, Joe Payne, Jr. and Kataleen Cannon (Damon); and his grandchildren, Joshua, Courtney, Cavin, Skylar, Nick, Emily and Elizabeth. He is also survived by his three great grandchildren.
