He was predeceased by: his parents, Doyce Jackson Waits and Thelma Foy Baker Waits; and his siblings, Robert Waits, Scott Waits, Thurman Waits and Sharon Gilmore.
He is survived by: his children, Jeffery Scott Ruff, Brian Christopher Waits and Kerry Leigh Waits Williams; his sisters, Glenda Couey and Doris Brock; his grandchildren, Noah Jackson Waits, Alexandria Nicole Middleton of Patrick, Haswell Williams, Leland Ronald Williams, Chandler Ruff, Conner Ruff and Cole Ruff; and his great grandchild Jeremiah Isaiah Thomas Starr. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
