He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Alvis Phillips and Laura Chambers Phillips; his wife Patsy Strunk Phillips; and his daughter Sheila Renee Phillips. He is survived by: his children, Clarence Allen Phillips (Melanie Phillips), Jerry Dale Phillips and Sandra Kay Townsend (Rick Payne, Jr.) of Sharpsburg, GA. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
