He was predeceased by : his parents, James Paul Barrett and Annie Eloise Barrett (Crumbley); and his brother H. L. Barrett. He is survived by : his wife Nell Barrett; his sister Betty Small (Barrett); his sister-in-law Reba Barrett; his children, Karen Carter (Dennis) of Atlanta and Keith Barrett (Angie) of Dacula, Georgia; and his grandchildren, Austin Barrett, Avery Barrett, Kaley Barrett, Dana Carter and Stacy Carter. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
