He was predeceased by : his parents, Albert Schmidt and Florence Schmidt; his wife Dorothy M. Acquaro; his brother Donald Schmidt Sr. (Barbara); and his niece Sharon Schmidt.

He is survived by : his children, Paul Schmidt II (Jackie) of Port Orange, FL, Michael Schmidt of Port Orange, FL, Kathleen Geiger (Darryl) of Fleming Island, FL and Jane Friddell (William); his grandchildren, Amanda Atkinson (Justin), Brittney Gayle (Joshua), Trey Friddell, Cameron Schmidt, Logan Friddell, Kayden Schmidt and Zoey Schmidt; his great grandchildren, Kiley Gayle, Conner Atkinson, Kloey Gayle and Jaxon Gayle; his brother Gerald Schmidt, Sr. (Linda) of Macungie, PA; and his nieces and nephews, Anne Schmidt, Debbie Schmidt, Julie Casey, Donald Schmidt, Jr. and Gerald Schmidt, Jr..
