She was predeceased by: her parents, Lloyd J. Sommers and Thelma Blackburn Sommers; her husband James Wilton Grooms; her brothers, Douglas "Buddy" Sommers and L. J. "Spook" Sommers; her uncle Tom Blackburn; and her aunts, Gwynette Simmons, Varietta Williams and Charity Bragg.

She is survived by: her daughter Stephanie; her son-in-law Lindy Sheppard, Jr. of Sylvania; her grandchildren, Hayley White (Perry) of Baxley, GA, Clayton Sheppard of Sylvania, GA, Whitney Sheppard of Sylvania, GA and Wyatt Sheppard of Sylvania, GA; her great grandchildren, Linley White and Lane White of Baxley; and her siblings, Cecil "Sam" Sommers of Sylvania, GA and Dorothy S. Parrish of Portal, GA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Middle Ground Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, care of Greg Lee, 5377 Savannah Hwy. Sylvania, GA 30467.
