He is survived by: his mother Mary Alice Smith Slater; his children, Heather (Bobby Whitten), John Rhodes, Johnny (Trey), Kasie Slater and Erin (Brandon Mock); his grandchildren, Jackson "Red" Cannady, Amber, Paige, Madison, Brooke, Wesley, Cam and Mary Alice; his sister Judy (Spencer Harrison); and his niece Melissa Harrison.
