He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ernest Dawson and Wilma Lucile Mauldin Dawson; his wife Bettye Ruth Cox Dawson; his son Mart Dawson; and his sisters, Elizabeth Smith and Rheunette Aydlotte.
He is survived by: his children, Cherie Dawson of Thomaston, Mark Dawson Gasque (Reba) of Anderson and Danny Ray Dawson (Cheryl) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; his siblings, Diane Slaton (Walter) of Oxford, Roy Dawson (Brenda) of Thomaston and Bobby Dawson of Jackson; and his grandchildren, Daniel Dawson, Chad Gasque, Brad Gasque, Grayson Gasque, Diana Woffinden and Raleigh Dawson. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
