He was predeceased by: his parents, George Edison Burgess and Ina Sue Brown Burgess; his brothers, Dwight "Chuck" Burgess and Gary Wayne Burgess; and his grandson William Tollie Wilson II.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy Burgess of Thomaston, GA; his children, Susan Burgess James (Jon) of Thomaston, GA, Clayton Burgess (Wylene) of Thomaston, GA and Neal Hood (Kresha) of Thomaston, GA; and his brother Harold Burgess of Lenora, N. C. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
