He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Benjamin Thompson and Effie Evalou Ellington Thompson; his former wife Marlene Mathews Thompson; and his siblings, Kathleen Riley, Jesse B. Thompson, Jr., Bill Thompson, Ruth Ellerbee and Mildred Jones.
He is survived by: his wife Dianne Harbin Thompson; his children, Diane Greathouse (Dan) of Thomaston and Tommy Thompson (Marie) of Easley, SC; his stepdaughter Lynn McGahee (Mike) of Thomson, GA; and his grandchildren, Ashli Farrar (Matt) of Denver, CO, Blake Odom (LeAnn) of Thomaston, Jesse Thompson (Mabry) of Easley, SC and Abi Tschupp (Jared) of Atlanta. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
