She was predeceased by: her parents, Otis Bethune and Susie Laughter Bethune; her husband James A. Carmichael; her grandson Jonathan McCarty; her son-in-law Ralph Ellington; and her siblings, Jim, Aubrey Bethune, Versie Hill and Ruthie Foster.
She is survived by: her children, Faye Smoot of Thomaston, Becky Ellington of Thomaston and Lewis Carmichael (Liz) of Thomaston; and her sister-in-law Brenda Holston (Bill) of Thomaston. She is also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
