She was predeceased by: her parents, Harrison Arklus Hare and Margie Cooper Hare; her husband Joe Douglas Carswell, Sr.; and her sisters, Elizabeth Benfield and Jeanette Holbrooks.
She is survived by: her son Joe Douglas "Doug" Carswell, Jr.; her daughter-in-law Nancy of Simpsonville; and her daughters, Brenda Carswell of Hoschton and Sandra Ryals of Eastanollee, Georgia. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home (90 S Pond St, Toccoa, GA 30577). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Oaks-Limestone, 2560 Flintridge Road, NE, Gainesville, Georgia 30501 in memory of Mrs. Velma Carswell.
