It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Herman Atwood Jr. (Tucker, Georgia), born in Fort Monroe, Virginia, who passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Alton Atwood, Sr. and Mamie Atwood; and his brothers, John Atwood and Eddie Trexler. He is survived by: his wife Mildred "Bootsie" Beech Atwood; his son Richard Atwood; his daughter-in-law Judy; his daughter Cindy Atwood; his sister Catherine McKnight; his grandchildren, David Atwood and Katie Atwood; and his great grandchild Benjamin Atwood. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 11:15 AM and on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the First Christian Church of Atlanta (4532 Lavista Rd, Tucker, GA 30084). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 12:15 PM and on Thursday, July 31st 2025 at 10:30 AM. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the Crest Lawn Cemetery (2000 Marietta Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to University of Lynchburg, St. Judes Children's hospital, or First Christian Church of Atlanta.
