He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward Deese and Effie 'McAdams Deese; his spouses, Tommie Lanier Deese and Shirley Smith Deese; his son Eddie Deese; and his siblings, Alton Deese, Mary Yearty, Earl Deese and Bunice Deese.
He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Jan Deese; his stepchildren, June Stanford and Marty Smith; his grandchildren, Shane, Alecia Deese, Michael and Tasha Deese; his great grandchildren, Maguire Deese, Aubrie Deese, Landon White and Logan White; and his siblings, Margaret Smith, Rose Kiser, Joann and Gerald Redding.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Haralson County Ministries.
