He was predeceased by: his parents, Rose Edwina Culpepper Thomas and George Thomas; and his grandparents, Ed, Bessie Culpepper, Earl and Thelma Thomas.

He is survived by: his wife Terry Cantrell Thomas; his children, Tamara Petersdorff (Justin) and Kevin Thomas; his grandchildren, Nathaniel Petersdorff, Makayla Petersdorff, Taylor Petersdorff and Brayden Hennen; and his sister Kathy Earn (James).
