He was predeceased by: his parents, Etheridge Lanier and Gennie Morgan Lanier. He is survived by: his daughters, Mary and Martha Lanier; his wife Etta Lanier; his son John T. Lanier, Jr.; and his sisters, Carole Mason (Randall), Mary Hale and Diane Nevill. He is also survived by four nieces and two nephews.
