He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeff David Thompson and Lorna Mable Hobbs Thompson; his son Denver Thompson; his grandson Marc Thompson; his siblings, Greg Thompson and Lynette Goins; and his niece Shannon Reynolds.
He is survived by: his wife Doris; his daughter Ginger; his children-in-law, Joey Smothers of Winston, Georgia and Donna Thompson of Carrollton, Georgia; his sister-in-law Marion Thompson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and his grandchildren, Katie Smothers and Joseph Thompson.
