She was predeceased by: her parents, Benjamin Franklin Powell and Mary Sue Smith; her husband Luther William "Billy" Cowart; her close friend Tyrone Ard "Tony" Hightower; her sister Rhonda Kay Smith; and her children, Gregorie Allen Cowart and Gwendolyn Diane Willingham.
She is survived by: her daughter Denise Epps (Bruce); her son-in-law Dennis Willingham; her grandchildren, Melissa Hull (Kieser), Michael Epps, Amanda Ross (Darius), Amy Ogle (Michael), Janet Compton (Benji), Russell Cowart, Mathew Cowart, Crystal Wynkoop and Tara Willingham; her great grandchildren, Tyler Ramsey (Alexandra), Braylon Hull, Kyson Hull, Kiley Epps, Jayden Halsey-Ross, Kingsley Ross, Emery Ross, Alyssa Cheek, Alexis Cheek, Dillon Wilson, Emmaleigh Ogle, Danielle Prussia, Jordan Compton, Brantly Cowart, Colton Cowart, Heather Witt, Dimitri Witt, Alister Witt, Ariana Haley and Tarick Willingham; and her siblings, Harold Powell (Shirley), Donald Powell, Merle Powell (Judy), Ronnie Smith and Barbara Farmer. She is also survived by 5 great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Lord & Stephens Funeral Homes (4355 Lexington Rd, Athens, GA 30605). A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
