He was predeceased by : his parents, Anna Welz (Kranewitter) and Karl Welz; his children, Karl Victor Welz, Renate Karhu-Welz and Hans Nickolas Karhu-Welz; his wife Bettie Welz; his sister Gertrud Welz; his stepdaughters, Carla Mitchell Randolph (Earl) and Ericka Saulsberry; his nephews, Alexander Pupparo and Claudio Pupparo; and his grandchildren, Karl Vincent Welz, Christel Kairi Moody, Sierra C Welz, Eliot Karhu-Welz, Brandin Randolph, Maisha Saulsberry, Christian Randolph, Brittany Saulsberry, Ryan Saulsberry and Jazmeena Saulsberry.

He is survived by : his former life partner Vicky Karhu; and his partner's children, Ericka and Carla.
