He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Lee Veal and Lillie Belle Waller; and his siblings, Ralph "Bo", Jim, Harry, Kate Ivey, Blanche Powell, Rubye Holland, Hazel Kyzer, Eloise Ogburn, Emmie Bray and Ruth Moorman.
He is survived by : his wife Inez Lindsey Veal of Wrightsville; his sons, Hugh Veal (Jerri) of Wrightsville, James Veal of Arlington, TX and Bruce Veal (Rachel) of Wrightsville; his sister-in-law Carllene Veal of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Christa McLeod, Harris Veal (Elizabeth), D. J. Sikes (Jane), Tyler Veal, Clarissa Sangster (Britt) and Kevin Veal; and his great grandchildren, Timothy Sangster, Sailer Veal and Hugh "Tobie" Harris Veal, IV.
