He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Grover William Smith, Sr. and Marjorie Gass Smith; his wife Sue Ellen Maxwell Smith; and his children, Anthony Smith of Blairsville, GA, Melanie Neubauer of Sarasota, FL, Bettylena Weaver of Blairsville, GA, Marcel Smith of Seattle, WA, Michelle Hoyer of Blairsville, GA, Nichole Patrick of Blairsville, GA and Kere MacAlister of Konomis, FL.. He was also cherished by 15 grand-children and 7 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made, in his memory, to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Donations can be made through the following website: https://donate.lovetotherescue.org or by mail to: Appalachian Shrine Club P.O. Box 2116 Blairsville, GA 30512.
