It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nira K. C. Kurihara (Hilo, Hawaii), born in Ookala, Hawaii, who passed away on January 11, 2019, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her children, Jacquelyn Uemura of Hilo, Marlene Nakaishi (Glenn) of Hilo, Karen Suwa (Wesley) of Hilo, Michelle Kitagawa (Timothy) of Hilo, Stephanie Gonzalez (Donald) of Hilo, Harry Kurihara (Carolyn) of Honolulu and Wanda Nakanelua (Daniel) of Wahiawa; and her siblings, George Luke (Yoko) of San Diego, Ernest Luke (Mamie) of Honolulu, Florence Kim of California, Mary Chung of Honolulu and Julia Chun of Ewa Beach. She was also cherished by nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
