He was predeceased by : his wife Bernice Vakauta; his daughter Etta Vakauta; his parents, Mosese Vakauta and Kalo Vakauta; and his siblings, Semisi Tuita, Salote Vaipuna and Filipe Vakauta.

He is survived by : his children, Ivan Vakauta (Hana), Norman Vakauta (Lilinoe), Makanesi Vakauta (Corrina), Talanoa Vakauta, Salote Sundaram (Sanjay) and Kalo Anitema (Kotoni); his grandchildren, Alohilani Dudoit, Auckland Vakauta, Sanjay, Charlotte Sundaram, Ava, Camilla Anitema, Makanesi and Mosese Vakauta; and his siblings, Siosifa Vakauta and Etta Taumalolo.

Due to COVID, service will be broadcasted via Zoom at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on Kamehameha Avenue in Kahului.
