She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Oliver Akao and Hannah Akao; her sons, Duane Ipo Thompson (Mahealani) of Kamuela and Joel Thompson (Erica) of San Jose, California; her siblings, Richard Akao (Diana) of Kona, Wayne Akao of Las Vegas, Nevada and Cynthia Akao of Kona, Hawaii; and her grandchildren, Nohili, Hiwa and Mauloa Thompson. She was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
