He is survived by : his children, Kim Stapleton of Las Vegas, NV, Dr. Laurie Stapleton (Kirk Vanek) of Las Vegas, NV and Jason Stapleton (Josy) of Las Vegas, NV; his close friend Diane Major of Albia; his grandchildren, Alyse, Jessica, Luke Vanek, Lily and Jimmy Stapleton; and his siblings, Fred Stapleton and Marilynne Hand (Cal).

An open memorial has been established to be determined at a later date.
